The Kongu Riders Cricket Club (abbreviated as KRCC), also referred in other names as Kongu Cricket Club or Arumuga Koundanur Cricket Club, is a regional club cricket team based in Coimbatore, India The primary home ground of Kongu Riders Cricket Club is Arumuga Koundanur MR Garden Ground- Krishna Nagar. They also have one more home ground in Arumuga Koundanur Teachers Colony Ground, situated about 1 km from the old ground.

The Kongu Riders are currently captained by Ashok. The team is currently administered and managed by Tamil Selvan. The leading run scorer of the team is Praveen. The leading wicket takers are Ramalingam and Tamil Selvan. The team includes some aggressive all-rounders like Sasi Kumar, Karthik, Vijay Kumar and Rajadurai. The team has plenty of all-rounders and thus is one of the leading cricket club in Coimbatore.

Club History

It is one of the oldest cricket club (previously known as Arumuga Koundanur Cricket Club) formed in Coimbatore. The rein of this club has been passed over from generation to generation to the people of Arumuga Koundanur, situated at the southern part of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. The Cricket ball team was officially formed in 2013 October.
The team proved its strength in its first ever participation in a tournament, that saw the team reach the finals and ended Runner-Up in the Masters Champions Trophy in 2014. Subsequently, the team participated for the first time in 2014 for the CDCA League Entry Knock out tournament. The Kongu Riders team practiced in Cosmo Village Nets session and entered the CDCA tournament. However, they were not able to qualify for next levels, as they lost to MEC in the knock out match.

2015 Season

In 2015, the team participated in several other cricket tournaments after rejigging the team. Kongu Riders secured runner up place in Arumuga Koundanur Knock out tournament conducted in January 2015. The team participated in G-Developers CDCA League Entry Knock out tournament in April 2015 in the name of Kongu CC. They made an early exit in the tournament after losing the opening match to Masters CC, the champions of G-Developers

trophy.
From July, Kongu Riders Cricket Club started their preparation work for their home ground in Arumuga Koundanur and played its home matches from August 2015. Subsequently, the team made several changes to its management setup and played home and away games at alternative weeks. From October 2015, all the matches were properly recorded and players were properly trained according to their skills. The team saw record number of fifties being scored as a result of the training. The team won 6 out of 11 matches played in 2015 season.

2016 Season

The 2016 season started with the preparation of new ground in Teachers Colony. The management decided to play in home ground at alternative weeks. The first match of the season was played at home ground on 10 January against MCC Kalapatti, in which the team lost by 10 runs Chasing 180 in 25 overs. In January Kongu Riders played 8 matches and won 3 of it. The new ground was prepared by the end of January and first match in the new ground was played between Kongu Riders and IT People, in which IT People Won by 3 Wickets. In February Kongu Riders played 7 matches and won 4 of it.
Kongu Riders won 4 of 6 matches played in March.
Kongu Riders played 6 matches in April and lost 5 of it, including loss in the first round of G-Developers Coimbatore League Entry Tournament.
Kongu Riders played 9 matches in May, lost 1 and won 8 consecutive matches.
Kongu Riders played 55 matches in 2016, Won 31 and lost 24 matches.

MCC Tournament (20 overs competition)

Kongu Riders joined MCC Tournament and played its first round in its home ground on 6 March against Rising Kingz in which Kongu Riders won by 15 runs. Sasi Kumar won the man of the match award for his all round performance. Subsequent rounds were conducted at MCC Kallapatti ground. Kongu Riders won its second match against Young Masters beating them by 6 wickets and entered the quarter finals. Sasi kumar won his second Man of the Match award. In the quarter finals, Kongu Riders faced SRCC from Pollachi, in which Kongu Riders won by 6 wickets with 11 Balls remaining. Vijay Kumar won the man of the match award for his 37. Kongu Riders lost their semi final match against Waves CC by 35 runs.
