Kollapur region is an area spanning the Nallamala forest area on the banks of the river Krishna in the Nagarkurnool district, in the state of Telangana India. The Someshwara, Sangameshwara, and Malleshwara temples are in this region, with traces of architectural treasures from the 2nd century BC. Hundreds of ancient temples are visible in the area, mainly built over 1,500 years ago. Due to similar broad roads and surrounding tree plantations, people used to refer to Kollapur as Telangana Mysore (a reference to the larger city of Mysore).

Constituency
There are five mandals or governing districts, namely Kodair, Kollapur, Pangal, Peddakothapally, and Weepanagandla. The population of 246,248 is distributed among 116 villages.
Religion
This region is predominately Hindu population with several Temples.
History
The Kollapur region played a considerable role in Nizam's era (Nizam of Hyderabad, royal ruler prior to the British taking over). Kollapur has produced historic persons of note such as Kotla Venkata Subbaiah, who worked as a mantri, or secretary, to the Raja of Kollapur. In addition, Miyyapuram Rama Krishna Rao, a Telugu Brahmin, who worked as a mantri to the Raja of Kollapur after Kotla Venkata Subbaiah. Kotla Kistaiah worked as tahasildar (revenue and tax official) to the same Raja.
Development
A massive water lift irrigation project is near Kollapur. The Somasila temple is located just 9 km from Kollapur. A bitumen (asphalt) road connects Kollapur to Somasila. Kollapur has a Helipad and Aerodrome (fixed wing airport) that dates back to the early 1900s.
Agriculture
Kotla families were the immigrants from the East Godavari-AP/Maharashtra/Bengal/Orissa region who served the Kollapur cabinet and ministry for over three generations. Agriculture is difficult in the Kollapur region due to the lack of adequate ground water resources and acute shortage of rainfall almost every year. The land is fertile in certain places due to water brought through canals connected to water lift irrigation projects.
Notable People
Jupally Krishna Rao, a Member of the Legislative Assembly in the Telangana Legislative Assembly, was born in Pedda Dagada, a village in the Kollapur region.
