Kokam Co., Ltd. is a South Korea based company founded in 1989 by Ji Joon Hong. It specializes in the design, production and distribution of rechargeable Lithium polymer batteries and energy management systems. Kokam manufactures over 100 different types of batteries for various applications such as marine, Electric vehicles/Hybrid electric vehicles, military and industrial.

Battery Technology
Kokam was the first company to develop high capacity lithium-ion polymer batteries worldwide. It currently owns over 150 battery related patents. Kokam's facility at Midland Battery Park is one of the world's highest-capacity large-format lithium-ion battery plants.
M&A
Dow Kokam LLC, was initially a joint venture between Dow Chemical Company and TK Advanced Battery LLC (Kokam America and two venture partners). In 2013, Dow Chemical Co. backed out of its ownership of Dow Kokam LLC, selling its interest to MBP Investors LLC (of Townsend Ventures LLC).
