Knox Community High School is the only high school in Knox, Indiana. Knox is located centrally in Starke County, in the northwest/north central part of the state.

General information

Knox High School is a public school that houses approximately 830 students in grades 9-12. As of 2016, the school's principal is Dr. Elizabeth Ratliff.

There are 45 full-time faculty members, two administrators, one full-time athletic director, and two guidance counselors. Knox High School has over 100 course offerings. Students are also encouraged to aspire to a Core 40 or Academic Honors Diploma. There are 19 varsity athletic programs, marching band, concert band, choir, the fall play, and the spring musical in which to participate, along with academic teams such as Spell Bowl, Academic Super Bowl, and the Speech Team.

The mascot is an Indian. The school colors are red, white, and blue.

Knox Community High School has received multiple Bronze Medal ratings in the U.S. News/School Matters Best High Schools survey.

Redskin Brigade

The Redskin Brigade of Knox High School is a six time ISSMA Class D marching band state finalist and a three time ISSMA Class C marching band state finalist. The Redskin Brigade was the 2000, 2002, and 2003 Class D State Champion Runner-Up, and the 2005 Indianapolis Regional Bands of America Class A Champion. In 2004 and 2016, Knox was named one of the American Music Conference's "Top 100 Communities for Music." The Knox High School band was also the first Conn-Selmer band in the nation.

Block scheduling

Knox High School operates on an alternating day Block 8 schedule, which allows for more time for class instruction while still giving students the opportunity to explore many class choices. Knox High School has provided professional development training for over 60 high schools in the state of Indiana since adopting the Block 8 schedule.
