Early life and education

Born in Melaka, Malaysia, to Ranjit Kaur and Sarjeet Singh, is one of twelve children. During her youth, Kiran attended Infant Jesus Convert primary school and later Infant Jesus Convent secondary school.

Kiran Kaur started her career in accounting by attending AMSET College in Kuala Lumpur, earning a postgraduate certificate at Chartered Institute of Marketing in 1997. She continued her professional education at Stamford College earning certificate from London Chamber of Commerce & Industry (2000) and Ranger College with a certificate from Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (2002).

From 1999- 2007 she worked as an accounts executive and operational manager for several companies, including factory for distilled water AquaClear Distillers, occupational health clinic Arus Sagu, and three clinics of Sugam Medical Services.

Wanting to fulfill and new calling in her life of service to humanity, Kiran joined SOLS 24/7- an international organisation bringing positive change to society by teaching life-skills and English to underprivileged youth in Asia. During her two-year training under the leadership of Dr Madenjit Singh, she studied a unique English methodology and Science of Life System developed by Dr Singh. Since 2004 Kiran has worked as an English and life-skills teacher to low-income youths and school drop-outs.

Educational project management

Kiran was a student of Dr Madenjit Singh’s International Social Entrepreneurship Training Programme in 2006. As part of her training she was assigned to manage a social project under the direction of Raj Ridvan Singh. In 2007 while Raj was in East Timor she managed the operation of SOLS 24/7 YDC, a free boarding school in Melaka, Malaysia. She ran the school with the help of 10 trainees during Raj's absence.

She assisted in many aspects of the project from finding location, renovation of the school building, and program promotion to potential students. In two years, the school opened to 250 boarding students whom Kiran taught life science skills and English.

She served as the school principal until 2012, teaching and training alongside her management responsibilities and participating in the development of new curriculum for SOLS 24/7 courses in Business, Accounting and Employment skills.

Under the leadership of Raj Ridvan Singh she gained much experience, effectiveness, and great results in leadership roles. Kiran was offered the management of several community centers around Malaysia. Between the years 2011 - 2012, she coordinated and oversaw the opening of 7 new community centers.

In addition to her full-time training and managing centres, Kiran coordinated 3-day long maharani camps, which were initiated and funded by Vijaya Ratnam Foundation. The three camps in 3 different states focused on the youth empowerment of 240 female teenagers from Malaysian minorities - Indian and indigenous Orang Asli groups. Year later, she repeated her success with 9 camps in 9 different states across Malaysia. In partnership with Microsoft, SOLS 24/7 organizes collection and redistribution of IT equipment in rural areas in Malaysia as a part of SOLS Tech project. Rural community centers and NGOs, received donated hardware with the newly updated Microsoft software. During the year of 2012, Kiran oversaw the project for 6 months.

As a part of collaboration with UNHCR, Kiran was also in charge of the set-up of the full - time educational program for Burmese refugees in Malaysia in 2012. Students in the age group of 16 and above were taught English, Computers - Microsoft office and hardware for the period of 1 year.

Currently serving as a Country director of SOLS 24/7 in Amritsar, India, Kiran has overseen the set-up of one-year boarding school program for 50 full-time and 200 part-time students. Apart from her duties as a director, she has taught 3 groups of the most challenged children and youth.

In August 2014, Kiran started to facilitate 8 months long courses in project management for 50 Indian youths who qualified to open new community centers in India.

Since 2012 Singh has served as a financial director of operations of five SOLS 24/7 country divisions. She also works internationally, having facilitated English training camps for Ministry of Education directors and University professors in Thailand.

Teaching and mentorship

Students who join SOLS 24/7 program lack self-esteem and hope for their future. Being a passionate and dedicated teacher, Kiran is successfully working even with the slowest, most challenged students who are able to speak English in less than 6 months, thanks to her understanding of language science. The complex life science education then prepares students to achieve greater success in their careers and more fulfilling personal lives.

Kiran believes in developing oneself while developing others. In a news article for StarMetro, Kiran described herself before joining SOLS 24/7 as "being anti-social, quiet and workaholic who was very success driven" (Star Metro April 2012). Since her two-years training with Dr Madenjit Singh, she has achieved greater balance by combining her work and personal life in one: "the students are part of my family; they are an expansion of what I have been doing with my own son. The roles of teacher, mentor and manager and mother complement each other"

Kiran’s strong personal bond and connection with her students lasts long after their studies. Kiran serves as their mentor in their relationships, career, and personal development.
