History

Kimie Seize the Opportunity with Singer Kimie Miner The What

She released her debut studio album Distant Traveler on December 8, 2009 with Dreality Records. Kimié launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund her EP To the Sea in late 2012. She surpassed her Kickstarter goal to produce the EP independently, releasing To the Sea on March 5, 2013. The radio hit “Make Me Say” featuring Kimié’s long-time friend and Hawaiʻi musician Imua Garza was the EP’s top-rated song and was #1 on radio station KCCN-FM’s Top 40 Songs of 2013.

Kimié graduated from Kamehameha Schools in 2003. In 2004 while attending the University of San Diego, she met reggae superstar Barrington Levy, who was so impressed that he recruited Kimié as an opening act for part of his west coast tour. Since then, Kimié has traveled the world, living and recording in Jamaica, Hong Kong, Tahiti and Hawaiʻi. She has collaborated with Anuhea, Irie Love, Eli-Mac, Imua Garza, The Green, and Kolohe Kai.

In 2010, Kimié released her first official music video “Good Vibes” as part of the Live at the Reggae Cafe television series. In 2011, she released the “Is This Love?” music video as a single off the compilation album “Nocturnal Sound Krew & Slapp Symphony presents Drown ‘em in Beats; Save ‘em with Rhymes.” Kimié starred in the “Hungry Girl” version of the Burger King commercial, which first aired July 30, 2012, singing Sean Naʻauao’s famous “Fish and Poi” with a twist. On April 1, 2014 Kimié released a mock music video for her new single "New Day" in collaboration with First Insurance Company's ad campaign "In Paradise, Bad Still Happens". On April 15, 2014 she released her full-length music video for "New Day".

Kimié toured with fellow musician and close friend Anuhea in the fall of 2012 as part of Anuhea’s Mr. Mellow tour. Her To the Sea CD release tour throughout the Hawaiian Islands in the spring of 2013 garnered substantial media attention.

In fall 2013, Kimié opened for The Green throughout its Hawaiʻi ’13 nationwide tour. She won 2013 Best New Reggae Artist of the Year from RudeboyReggae.com. In December 2013, Kimié was featured in HI*Sessions (Episode 50) showcasing new songs from her upcoming album.

Her second full-length album was released in the summer of 2015.
