Khaur is a town and union council of Pindigheb Tehsil in the Attock District of Punjab. The town is located at 33°14'59N 72°77'19E.

Historically, the town of Khaur was the seat of a Chauhan Rajput principality, but by the 19th Century, the Chauhan had declined to merely the ownership of three villages in addition to Khaur. They still make a significant part of the town’s population. Other than the Chauhans, the town is also home to the Awan and Kahut tribes. The local language is Potwari dialect of Punjabi, and most of the population is Shia Muslim.

Khaur Oil Field
The town is the site of the first oilfield in Punjab, which operated from 1911 to 1950s. The first commercial success came with the drilling of Khaur-1 by Attock Oil Company in 1915, on a surface anti-cline in the Potwar Basin. Oil was discovered in sands in the lower part of the Miocene formation and a total of 396 shallow wells were drilled in the field from 1915 to 1954.
