The Khan Mughal are a clan of the Chughtai Mughal tribe found in and around Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, particularly near the mountains and city of Mirpur. These people can also be found in Pakistani Punjab Speaking Punjabi & Siraiki

History and origin
The arrival of Mughal clans in what is now Pakistan-occupied Kashmir can be traced back to the initial invasion of India launched by the Kabul based warlord Babur, or during the reign of Akbar in which a bloody feud erupted between Akbar and his brother Mirza Muhammad Hakim, the ruler of Kabulistan. Upon Akbar's victory most tribesmen were relocated to regions easily accessible for Delhi to quash another attempt by the Kabul mughals. Most Mughal Khans are descended from the Barlas tribe, the same tribe from which the kings of the Mughals of India sprang from. They arrived during the time of Babur's invasion of India, but it is unknown when or why the clans had split. Mughal historian such as Pir Ahmed Chisti who served as an court imam and calligrapher, during the rule of Akbar had noted most Mughal Khans had a strictly Perso-Afghan culture and looked identical to Afghans, he also noted in his biography of Shahzada Murad Mirza these clans were constantly disobedient to Delhi but continually forgiven almost all of the time.
Pretenders
A group of Kasab people who claim to be of Mughal origin live primarily in what is now Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and surrounding areas. These claims are mostly due to the surnames they carry, however, they are not of Mughal origin and often find themselves at conflict with the various Mughal tribes in these area's often resulting in violence. People who often Hold the surname Mughal or Mudgal are mostly pretenders.
