Khan Lab School has gained international recognition for its model and its association with Khan Academy.

  • NPR Morning Edition reported on Khan Lab School in a summer 2016 story titled "From YouTube Pioneer Sal Khan, A School With Real Classrooms."
  • In June 2016, Business Insider named Khan Lab School founder Sal Khan one of the "Top 10 Business Visionaries Creating Value for the World" along with Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk.
  • CBS This Morning interviewed Sal Khan about Khan Lab School's progress in August 2016 and questioned him about the school's stance on homework. Khan claimed that there is no science establishing a correlation between the quantity of homework and success, saying, "The things that do correlate are whether you’re able to have dinner with your family, and whether you’re able to get a full night of sleep. So any time that homework or anything else competes with those things, I do think it’s a negative."
  • International School Magazine featured Khan Lab School students on its cover in 2016 and published a story about Khan Lab School titled "A Revolution in Education." The piece called attention to the school's "self-paced and mastery-based model" and its emphasis on project-based learning, and it quoted Sal Khan as stating, "We are in start-up mode right now [at Khan Lab School], but over time the goal is that the Lab School itself will be a replicable model and the facets of the school will be useable by schools in different ways.”
  • Voice of America aired a feature about Khan Lab School as part of its "Silicon Valley & Technology" focus. The TV spot, titled "Experimental Start-Up Style Silicon Valley School Abolishes Grade Levels," described how students "love going to school, to the point that even if they are tired or sick or have the flu or whatever, they will not skip school."
