The Khabour Guards (Syriac: ܢܛܘܪܐ ܕܚܒܘܪ, Naṭore d'Khabour) is an Assyrian Syrian militia created after the collapse of Syrian government control in the Assyrian-majority Khabour Valley northeast of Hasaka. The militia is composed of hundreds of local Assyrians and maintains checkpoints in several villages, most notably Tel Tamer.
The Khabour Guards were initially overrun by Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) during the jihadists' assault in early 2015. Together with the Syriac Military Council (MFS) and People's Protection Units (YPG), they managed to slow the advance of ISIL.
On 25 January 2017, the Assyrian Democratic Party agreed to join the SDC, and the YPG agreed to hand over security in the Assyrian towns along the Khabur River to the Khabour Guards which joined the SDF.
