The Key Centre of Design Computing and Cognition (KCDC), a research centre in the University of Sydney, was founded in 1968 by John Gero (who was its Foundation Director and who continued as Director or Co-Director until 2007) to research computers in design, now called design computing. It widened its ambit to design theory, design cognition and design research more generally. In 2007 it changed its name to the Design Lab.
