KY 439 begins at an intersection with KY 55/KY 61 (Greensburg Street) west of Columbia, within the central part of Adair County. It travels to the northeast and immediately intersects the northern terminus of KY 439 Conn. It curves to the east-northeast and enters Columbia. It passes Adair County Middle School. It intersects the southern terminus of KY 767 (Dillon Street). It curves to the east-southeast and then to the southeast. It passes the Adair County Public Library and the Adair County Jail. The highway then meets its eastern terminus, a roundabout intersection with KY 55 Bus. and KY 80.
