Route description

The route originates at a junction with Taylor Wood Road/Veechdale Road a few miles south of Interstate 64 near Simpsonville and heads north toward Simpsonville. 1 mile (1.6 km) from Taylor Wood Road/Veechdale Road, KY 1399 crosses over a railroad track, passes a subdivision on the left and turns toward the west. The route passes over the railroad track again and makes a sharp curve toward the south, passing south of the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass and providing access to the outlet mall. After passing by the mall, KY 1399 ends at KY 1848 just south of Interstate 64 at Exit 28. The entire route is a two lane road that passes almost entirely through rural sections of Shelby County.

History

KY 1399 was designated by 1955 and originally intersected with US 60 in Simpsonville, but was closed at the community of Veechdale when I-64 was opened in the early 1960s. The road was rerouted to what is now Buck Creek Road (KY 1848) and then reconnected just south of I-64.

In 2013, the road was rerouted again with the construction of the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass near the intersection of KY 1399 and KY 1848. It was moved south of the mall and reconfigured to provide access to it.

Major intersections

The entire route is in Shelby County.
