Kents Bank railway station is a railway station that serves the village of Kents Bank in Cumbria, England. It is located on the Furness Line from Barrow-in-Furness to Lancaster.
Contents
The station building was designed by the Lancaster architects Paley and Austin in 1865 for the Furness Railway. Though these remain, they are in private residential use.
Facilities
The station is unstaffed, with no ticket machines available (so travellers must buy these in advance or from the conductor aboard the train). Shelters are located on each platform, along with digital information screens and a P.A system. Access to the northbound platform is via a user-worked barrier level crossing, so whilst it has step-free access disabled travellers should exercise caution when crossing the line.
Services
Kents Bank is served by Northern, who operate a basic hourly service with some two-hour gaps between Barrow-in-Furness and Lancaster. Certain northbound trains are extended to Whitehaven & Carlisle and several southbound trains are extended to Preston and Manchester Airport. A two-hourly service runs each way on Sundays.
