Ken Paulson is the dean of the College of Media and Entertainment at Middle Tennessee State University, and president of the Newseum Institute's First Amendment Center; he formerly was president of the Newseum. He is the former editor-in-chief of USA Today and remains a columnist there. He created "Freedom Sings," a First Amendment stage show.

Paulson edited Gannett Company newspapers in Wisconsin, New York, New Jersey, and Florida.
In addition to the bachelor's degree he earned from the University of Missouri, he has a law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law.
