Keiretsu forum academy building a fundable company

Keiretsu Forum founded in 2000 by Randy Williams, is a private group of international members comprising an angel investor network. Keiretsu Forum's angel investor network spans three continents with 49 chapters in cities such as San Francisco California, Seattle Washington, New York City New York, Paris France, Istanbul Turkey, and Chennai India. With over 2,500 accredited investors participating in Keiretsu Forum's angel investor network there is large diversity of investments made each year in sectors such as technology, consumer goods, life sciences, and real estate. To date members have invested over $800 million dollars in over 800 companies.

Contents

In addition to the capital invested, Keiretsu Forum and its members work diligently to offer resources, feedback, and mentoring to entrepreneurs and their companies. Much of this effort culminates in monthly forum meetings held by each chapter to provide entrepreneurs and their companies a viable source of capital and support.

Keiretsu Forum members are serious investors, business leaders, venture capitalists, corporate/institutional investors and serial entrepreneurs. Keiretsu Forum enjoys synergies and close relationships with venture capital firms, universities, and other partner organizations. These relationships facilitate the access to capital, talent, technology, and resources needed to build a successful venture.

Our quality and diverse deal flow comes from our community of members, venture capitalists, sponsors, incubators and universities. Keiretsu Forum members invest in investment opportunities that focus on emerging technologies, healthcare/life sciences, consumer products, real estate and other segments with high growth opportunity.

Investment Process

Forum members provide early-stage capital in the range of $250K-$2m. Keiretsu Forum is not a fund and does not invest as a LLC. Members collaborate in the due diligence process, but make individual investment decisions.

Due Diligence

Early-stage investing carries a high degree of risk. To help minimize that risk, the Keiretsu Forum members have developed a thorough and comprehensive due diligence process that is applied to all companies prior to member investment. The due diligence process is now available in The Keiretsu Forum Due Diligence Process Handbook, which represents more than 15 years of knowledge and best practices vetted by over a 2,500 Keiretsu Forum investor members world-wide.

Like all investing, startup investing benefits from a disciplined approach. The Keiretsu Forum Due Diligence Process Handbook provides members and other investors with a process to conduct due diligence efficiently, as well as a valuable education and informational resource. Research clearly shows that investments made following a thorough due diligence process have significantly better outcomes than those made following less due diligence.

The Due Diligence Process Handbook is accompanied by an investor training webinar entitled "Decisive Due Diligence: The Fast Track to Decision and Influence." It is designed to help guide investors in using the Handbook to its full potential.

The Keiretsu Forum is pleased to offer our member-designed Due Diligence Handbook free of charge as both an iBook for iPad and a downloadable PDF to benefit startup investors and entrepreneurs around the world. We hope this resource will serve as a valuable tool in supporting your own due diligence efforts.

Angel Capital Expo

In 2008, Randy Williams pioneered the Keiretsu Forum Angel Capital Expo. The Angel Capital Expo brings together angel investors and entrepreneurs looking for funding. Angel Capital Expo is organized by Keiretsu Forum, the largest global angel investment network, and was created to foster collaboration among angel groups, as well as reach out to the larger investment community. Keiretsu Forum annually hosts their Angel Capital Expo where members and angel investors guests from across the nation gather in Silicon Valley for the Northern California Angel Capital Expo, Seattle for the Northwest Angel Capital Expo, New York for the Mid-Atlantic Angel Capital Expo, Ontario Canada for the Central Canada Angel Capital Expo and an annual location in Europe to watch 15-20 companies pitch.
