History

The Keel Family originally purchased Keel Forest in 1970 along with the farmland to its south. The forest was used for lumber at first. However, being on the slope of a major hill, lumber operations were quickly halted due to lack of demand and major erosion. The forest had lain dormant for 20 years, flourishing and reforesting before the idea of a forest park was proposed in 2012. When the family agreed to the idea, the first trail was cleared for excavation of the forest. Since then, Keel Forest has encountered many changes and has seen many new faces.
