Early life

An only child born to Paul and Nancy Gruver, she attended Penn Hills High School where she discovered her interest in theatre and began dancing at an early age with O’Steen School of Dance. Gruver then attended Point Park University, where she received her BFA in Theatre Arts and graduated Cum Laude. Gruver decided to pursue her dreams of becoming an actress and moved to Hollywood, CA in 1992 immediately after graduating college. While living in Hollywood, Gruver performed in numerous live theatre productions, nation and regional commercials and independent films. She also worked as an associate producer for Terra Nova Television where she assisted with documentaries such as Riddle of the Desert Mummies and Fires of the Mind. During her time in LA she studied massage at numerous schools including LMT Success Group.
Career
After leaving Los Angeles and her production career behind, Gruver fell back on her massage and healing skills. Gruver pursued further education at Clayton College of Natural Health and finished her hypnotherapy training at HMI. She also attended the famed Benson-Henry Institute for Mind/Body Medicine at Harvard where she honed her mind/body skills and solidified her stress reduction program.
She was awarded the NAWBO Spirit of Entrepreneurship Award, was a finalist for the Gutsy Gal Awards and was selected as a best practice by Massage Magazine. Gruver still maintains her massage and hypnotherapy practice in Santa Barbara, CA.
She published her first book, The Alternative Medicine Cabinet in 2009 and has written five multiple award-winning books in total including Body/Mind Therapies for the Bodyworker, Conquer your Stress with Mind/Body Techniques, Market my Practice (co-author) and Journey of Healing.
