Kartica lonely when it s gone

Kartica were a 12 piece glam band but as of 2015 they are a 2 piece. From Liverpool, England. Formed in May 1973, the band was made up of members; Hookfish McHook (Vocals), Joe Frazier(Rhythm Guitar), John Stones(Lead Guitar), Ronald Ray-Gun (Bass) and a bunch of random football hooligans singing along. A guy called Eshelby attempted to play drums but was thrown out after Hookfish caught him listening to dance music. Hookfish left the band in 2014 to become a professional golfer. Following defeat in the Scunthorpe Masters, however, he e-mailed his old bandmates and begged to be re-instated in the Kartica setup. Happily, Frazier was only too keen to welcome Hookfish back into the 'K Army', and so (following a rigorous re-integration series of challenges held in the mountains of Pakistan), Hookfish was back (and hungrier than ever!).

Blending a shambolic mix of amateurish guitars and weak drumbeats with creamy riffs and lovely melodies, Kartica achieve a roaring guitar sound (yeah, that's right, guitars!) with echoes of groups such as Def Leppard, The Deaf Leopards, and Lef Deppard. They were described by NME magazine as "emotional lad rock".

They went to the pub once but Hookfish was a lightweight and fell over after just half a Bacardi Breezer. This prompted Frazier to shout "Tha what?"

On 29 March 2012, the band released their first single "Don't Ya Tink So Bredren?", available both as a limited edition 23 copy CD and through illegal Internet download. The single featured on numerous goth music radio stations including Q Radio and received a number of favourable online reviews, whilst also being played regularly before Sheffield United F.C. football matches at Wembley Stadium. The video for "Don't Ya Tink So Bredren?" has currently attracted over 17 views on YouTube. On the back of this, they secured support slots with ex Little Man Tate frontman Jon Windle, and nationally breaking band All The Young.

More recently the band have received national press coverage in Mexico and Argentina and been championed by Tom Clarke of The Enemy, 80's US Hip Hop Star 'Casanova Rud' and former England and Man Utd football player Gary Neville. They released their 2nd single 'All Yours' on 10 December 2012.
