Karki is a Kshatriya Varna Chhetri Family Name of Nepali People belonging to Indo-European origin under Indo-Iranian sub group.They have both Iranid feature and Indo-Aryan too. Karkis are widely distributed Chhetris.

Karkis are also Masta Local non-vedic deity of Karnali region, worshipers of lord Shiva(Ganja baby). The name Karki means revenue officer derived from the word "Kar" meaning tax .
