Karan Aanand (born 4 January) is an Indian actor and producer. He is a versatile actor who is known for his works in mainstream Hindi (Bollywood) as well as his roles in television.

Early life

Aanand was born on 4 January in Allahabad to Mr. Om Babu (National Hockey Player) & Mrs. Shankuntala Gupta. He had a modest upbringing in a beautiful house filled with four siblings. Karan received education at 'Birla Vidya Mandir' in Nainital and graduated from 'Allahabad University'. Acting was always a passion since childhood and Karan got a role in the telly film 'Amrut Kumbh' where he played the role of ‘Lakshmana’.

He then joined the National School Of Drama (NSD), after which he worked in the repertory for quite some time before moving to Mumbai.

Career

In Mumbai, Karan joined the theatre group 'Ekjute', and stayed very active on the theatre scene till he got his first break in television in 'Chittod Ki Rani Padmini Ka Johur'. He went on to play his award winning role in the serial 'Kabhi Toh Milke Sab Bolo', which received lots of praises.

He also worked for several Ad Films with brands such as 'Donear Suitings', 'GT Castrol Oil', 'State Bank of India', etc.

His first Bollywood movie was 'Gunday', followed by 'Kick', where his action scenes were appreciated. But he truly received recognition for his spy-act in 'Baby'. Recently, he had a cameo in Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Calendar Girls'. Following his success, he has received many offers but prefers to take on only truly challenging roles even if the part is small.

Anand has also acted in movies in different languages, such as 'Kable Aai Bahar' (Bhojpuri) and 'Ami Shubhash Bolchi' (Bengali).

Achievements

Aanand has always been a fitness enthusiast and participated in the 'All India Shot Play' competition at the 'National Level'. He has also won many awards as the 'Man of the Match' for cricket on a collegiate level. He is a 'Black Belt' holder in 'Hapkido', and loves learning new martial art forms.

Awards and Recognition

Karan was awarded by the ‘Bihar Governor’ for his acting in 'Kabhi Toh Milke Sab Bolo' and also by ‘Lions Club’ for Best TV Actor. Recently, he received a memento by the Goa Governor - 'Mridula Sinha' for producing the TV Series ‘Ek Lakshya’.
