Kappa Lyrae (κ Lyr) is a solitary 4th magnitude star approximately 238 light years away from Earth, in the northern constellation of Lyra. It is a giant star of the spectral type K2III with an effective temperature of 4,638 kelvins. It is cooler, yet larger and brighter, than the Sun. It is also a suspected small amplitude variable star.
