Kapoor pur

Kapoor pur is a small village which is situated in tehsil pasrur district Sialkot province Punjab of country Pakistan.It is a union council which includes twenty villages.It is located in a mid of town pasrur and chawinda. It is about 40 km far from Sialkot city.The population of the village is about 3,000.

History

Many years ago, there were four brothers named rehmat ali, dilawar, nazir and hussain came from a place “Patiala”( Punjab in North-West India) to some area and permanently settle himself there. After that, that area was called “kapoor pur” by those four brothers. Their cast named was “Siddhu”. After few years, another family came to kapoor pur and permanently stay there which cast was “Gill”.

The peoples of the village is famous for its sacrifice on the war of 1965 and 1971 ( Between Pakistan and India ) . A lot of peoples died ( shaheed ) in those wars which were belonging from kapoor pur.

Geography

There are two major parts of the village which are locally called “Mohallahs” . • Upper Mohallah( West ) • Lower Mohallah( East )

There is famous place ( chowk ) called “Akbar chowk” in the upper muhallah and “Gill chowk” in lower muhallah. There is no market but some few shops there according to the need of the people in the village.

There are four schools in the village in which two are government sector and another two are private sector. One of government school for boys is up to elementary level and another for girls up to primary level and both of private schools up to secondary level. They have not a hospital but they go to nearby hospital in the village “kotli sayeda” for treatment.

Kapoor pur village is surrounded by four small villages named Kamal pur bajwa, kotli tarkhana, dharkali, chak raja.

Culture

All of the people in the village are referred as Punjabis. The mother language of the village is Punjabi and the dress of the people is “shalwar and qamees“. Their weddings are arranged very simply, the bridegroom wears a “shirwani” and their bride wears a “lehnga”. Their special dance named “bangrha“ is performed at wedding. Their daily diet includes vegetables, rice, pulses and others. Agriculture is the main source of income of the people.
