Alleged Corruption Charges on Arvind Kejriwal

Kapil Mishra on 14 May 2017, in a press conference, alleged that party leaders close to chief Arvind Kejriwal hid the donations from the public, lied to the Election Commission of India (EC) and laundered money using 16 shell companies. The day on which he held the press conference, was his fifth day of hunger strike against Kejriwal. He was asking for the details of foreign trips of some of the AAP leaders. At the end of the conference, he fainted and was immediately taken to hospital.

Manhandling inside the Delhi Assembly

On 31 May 2017, Mishra was manhandled and pushed by AAP lawmakers inside the Delhi Assembly as it met for a one-day special sitting on the GST or Goods and Services Tax. In visuals from the assembly cameras, Mishra was seen struggling as he was grabbed and restrained by a group of lawmakers and marshals. One lawmaker even had him in what appeared to be a stranglehold. He was finally dragged out by marshals. Mishra claimed that he was kicked and punched in the chest by five to seven AAP legislators and during that time the cameras were switched off. The incident took place after Kapil Mishra incessantly demanded a chance to speak in the house. Mishra was seeking a response from the Speaker Ram Niwas Goel about a special session at Ramlila Maidan to discuss alleged corruption in the Aam Aadmi Party and the Delhi government. Speaker warned Mishra to not speak out of turn. Mishra then unfurled a banner asking for the special session. The Speaker then observed that this was not in keeping with the dignity of the assembly and asked marshals to remove Mishra. As even before the marshals could come, a scuffle broke out between the MLAs and Mishra. Scenes from the assembly showed Mishra surrounded by AAP MLAs, being pushed, shoved and manhandled before he was dragged out.
