Kaohsiung MRT station
The Kaohsiung MRT station is a two-level, underground station with one exit. It is located at Jianguo 2nd Road.
New station
A new underground station is being built to replace the current station. Similar to Taipei Station, it will consist of a TRA concourse at B1, 2 TRA island platforms and 4 tracks at B2, an MRT concourse at B3 and an MRT platform at B4. The new MRT platform is located about 100 m north of the current station, and is double the length to allow for 6 cars. The underground portion could open as early as December 2017, upon which the current MRT station will be closed and reserved for emergency use. The current TRA station and tracks will be removed and the legacy station building will be moved back to the center for display. There is a proposal to extend THSR to the new station.
