Kanthari directed by Ajmal is a story which completely revolves around the urban life in Kochi. ‘Kanthari’ is the story of Rani Rachana Narayanankutty aka Kanthari. Rani is brought up by some prostitutes in Kochi. They give her good education and have great hopes about her. Palarivattom Padmavathy (Seenath), Vypin Radha (Devi Menon), and Thammanam Mary (Rama Devi) are the care takers of Rani. Since she is born and brought up in difficult situations she grows as a fearless and bold girl. ‘Kanthari’ is a thriller that takes a peek into certain present day social issues. The film also casts Thalaivasal Vijay, Subhiksha, Shekhar Menon, Kalinga Sasi, Saju Kodiyan, Kalabhavan Martin, Kulappulli Leela, Manav, Parvathy Renjith, Lorain, and Kalabhavan Haneef. Plot
Adopted by a few hustlers in Kochi, Rani grows up to be an ace snatcher. A prospercous debilitated Aamir strays into her life and strangely enough, they strike a rapport.
