Kanchanjungha Express is an important mail/express type train of Indian Railways linking state of West Bengal, Assam and Tripura. Previously it used to run between Howrah and New Jalpaiguri, but was later extended up to Guwahati Junction. Now it runs between Sealdah (Kolkata) and Guwahati. It is now extended up to Silchar from February 1st 2016 and Agartala from first week of October, 2016. It runs triweekly from Silchar and biweekly from Agartala and Guwahati. It is equally important among tourists and pilgrims.This train is very Important in this route after Saraighat Express. Tatkal scheme is available in it. From Sealdah To Rampurhat it is hauled byWAP 4 class electric locomotive of Howrah Junction shed. From Rampurhat to Malda Town it is hauled by WDM 3A class diesel locomotive of Malda Town shed. From Malda Town to Guwahati/Agartala/Silchar it is hauled by WDP 3D class diesel locomotive of Siliguri Jn shed.
