Kalaranjini born to Theater artists Chavara V.P.Nair and Vijayalakshmi. She has 2 younger sisters Urvashi, Kalpana. Her two brothers Kamal Roy and Prince, died at the age of 17 and 27 respectively. She is a divorcee and has a son, Prince.
