Kaduvakulam Antony (9 November 1936 – 4 February 2001) was an Indian film actor from Kerala who performed more than 300 films as comedian during the 1960s and 1970s. He is regarded as one of the best and most popular comedians in Malayalam cinema. Antony generally portrayed the humorous sidekick character.

Early life

Antony was born on 9 November 1936 at Kuttanad, Alleppy. He was the son of (both late) Mr Thoman And Mrs Annama duos. When he was at 2 years old, his family shifted to Kaduvakulam, Kottayam district. His parents were farmers. He was the youngest of the eight children of his parents, among whom two died in childhood. Even from childhood, Antony had the dream of becoming a comedian. From childhood onwards, he was having elevated sense of humour.

He ran a private finance company, but he was very much devoted to become an actor. So he took part in several amateur theatre plays and Monoacts as well. For seven years, he contributed in Drama Acharaya N N Pillai's drama troupe named Viswa Kerala Kala Samithi and National theaters.

Later on, the Malayalam film actor Jose Prakash introduced him to the Malayalam film industry.

Family

Kaduvakulam Antony was married to Beeyatries Antony, who was also an actress. The couple had 2 children, Tomydas Antony Pallivathukal and Sonia Antony.

Career

Antony debuted his career in 1961 through Merry land studios productions movie Bhakthakujela acted a significant role as "kuttipattar". On the year he won the Best Humorist Award for the first film. In 1968, he acted in the first full-length comedy in Malayalam cinema, Viruthan Shanku, directed by P. Venu.

Thereafter, he acted in snehadeepam, Pattabhishekam, Thiruvabharanam, Snapakayohannan, Punnapravayalar begins in 300 films this dude's humour surged.

Kaduvacheri vava in Kayamkulam Kochunni(1966), Ammit Anthony in Thiruvabharanam(1973), Shankunair in Thampuraty(1978), Chattam Velayudhan in Punnapra vayalar(1968) these all were his beloved characters in his career.

Antony was last seen in Adivaram(1997) Malayalam movie directed by Jose Thomas.

Death

On 19 November 2000, Sunday in the morning Antony got paralysed on his left side due to hypertension and was taken to Medical Centre Hospital Kottayam. He was on the ward for 76 days due to severe cerebral hemorrhage. He died in his residence at Kaduvakulam on 4 February 2001 at 5:00 PM and the funeral was held on the next day at Little Flower Church Kaduvakulam.
