KLST virtual channel 8 is the CBS-affiliated television station in San Angelo, Texas. It's owned by the Irving, TX based Nexstar Media Group; through a Local Sales Agreement, Nexstar operates KSAN-TV, the NBC affiliate in San Angelo which is owned by Mission Broadcasting. KLST broadcasts its digital signal on VHF channel 11, which remaps to former analog channel 8 via PSIP. The two stations share studios located on Armstrong Street in San Angelo and its transmitter is located near Eola.

Digital channels
On June 15, 2016, Nexstar announced that it has entered into an affiliation agreement with Katz Broadcasting for the Escape, Laff, Grit, and Bounce TV networks (the last one of which is owned by Bounce Media LLC, whose COO Jonathan Katz is president/CEO of Katz Broadcasting), bringing the four networks to 81 stations owned and/or operated by Nexstar, including KLST and KSAN-TV.
History
KLST was the first television station in San Angelo, signing on the air on June 26, 1953 as KTXL-TV; the call letters are now at the Fox affiliate in Sacramento, California as of 1968. In 1957, the station changed its call sign to KCTV, which is now the call letters of the CBS network affiliate in Kansas City, Missouri since 1983 at the time when the station became KLST. KLST was purchased by Nexstar Broadcasting in 2004 from the Jewell Television Corporation.
Coverage area
KLST serves as the CBS affiliate for 11 counties in West Central Texas that form the San Angelo television market as defined by Nielsen (Tom Green, Sterling, Coke, Irion, Concho, McCulloch, Schleicher, Menard, Crockett, Sutton & Kimble).
KLST also provides news and weather coverage to four other counties that assigned to other nearby television markets (Runnels & Coleman in the Abilene-Sweetwater DMA, Reagan in the Midland-Odessa DMA, & Mason in the Austin DMA). Runnels County is the adjacent county to San Angelo but the majority of the residents in the county watch local television stations that broadcast out of Abilene. This is why the county is assigned to the Abilene-Sweetwater television market by Nielsen.
News operation
KLST presently broadcasts 19 hours of locally produced newscasts each week (with 3½ hours on weekdays, 1 hour on Saturdays and a half-hour on Sundays).
