KISA Phone

KISA Phone is an Australian mobile virtual network operator founded in 2013, that provides telecommunications services to consumers around Australia. The company has designed and created a mobile phone suitable for visually impaired, the elderly, or others with special mobile communication needs.

Contents

The phone has no screen, large contact buttons on the front, a dedicated SOS button and space for critical information on the back. The phone went on sale in August 2014.

The KISA phone is a Braille phone; it was designed in Australia in conjunction with Vision Australia and Guide Dogs Victoria.

There are three plans with no lock-in contracts.

Design

The inspiration of creating KISA phone comes from a terrible experience. Levin, one of the designers, couldn't find his wife's lost grandfather. Even though the old man had a smartphone with him, he was unable to use it and Levin had no idea where to find him. Levin tried to find a simplified phone for his wife's grandfather, just in case of losing him again. Yet, he couldn't find any valuable resources on the market. He gathered Volodomanov and Kosher to create KISA phone.

Internet support

Mobile phone cannot be used without Internet support, especially for those phones which have GPS location. Mobile phone use Mobile Phoney Tower to send and receive signals from special spectrum, KISA phone uses the strongest spectrum to support feature of GPS location. KISA Phone uses Vodafone host network, which is fast and cover vastly. See more information about Vodafone, please visit:Vodafone

Features

1. Large personalized tactile buttons with clear text

KISA phone is designed for senior people, young people and disabilities. These groups of people are not able to use smartphone. The screen is distracting, the features are confusing, and the digital menu is various, which are too complex to use. These people need communication even more than normal people, because of their disabilities. So the KISA phone created as large personalized tactile buttons with clear text to help them be able to contact people.

2.Loud ringtone for receiving calls

Loud ringtone helps senior people, young kids and disabilities easily know someone's calling, and then make reaction on the phone.

Controversy

Some people argued that KISA phone has a critical disadvantage, that the large button keyboard only be able to add less 10 contacts. The Kisa Pty Ltd (KISA) company gives us a good answer. People who use KISA Phone can, however, opt to have one of the contacts call an operator assisted service which will allow the user to contact other numbers. The problem solved.
