Programming

KIPH broadcasts a classical music format to the eastern portion of Maui. KIPH and KIPM operate as simulcasts of sister station KIPO as part of the Hawaii Public Radio station group.

History

In October 2007, Hawaii Public Radio applied to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for a construction permit for a new broadcast radio station. The FCC granted this permit on April 11, 2008, with a scheduled expiration date of April 11, 2011. The new station was assigned call sign "KHPH" on October 23, 2009. While construction continued, the permit holder had the FCC change the call sign to "KIPH" on January 12, 2011. After construction and testing were completed in early April 2011, the station was granted its broadcast license on April 22, 2011.

On February 14, 2017 KIPH switched from HPR's news, talk and jazz service to HPR's classical music service, as apart of Hawaii Public Radio's realignment of its program services.
