KCME is an independent Colorado public radio station founded in Manitou Springs, Colorado, in 1977. It signed on for the first time on December 24, 1979 on its original frequency of 88.1 MHz. It broadcasts FM on 88.7 MHz in the Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs and Pueblo areas, and on its several translators with classical music throughout central Colorado. In July 2008, KCME was invited by Summit Public Radio and TV, Inc. to relay its signal to Summit County [Breckenridge, Dillon, Frisco and Silverthorne] on 89.3 MHz. KCME's studios and administrative offices are now in the Colorado Springs city limits at 1921 N.
