K. Varalakshmi (Telugu: కె.వరలక్ష్మి; born 24 October 1948) is a well known Telugu short story writer. She is born in Jaggampeta, East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh. She is the eldest daughter of Palla Venkata Ramana and Bangaramma. She is married to Kala Ramamohana Rao in 1964. Most of her writings addresses the women of rural areas. Hailing from Andhra Pradesh state in India,she influenced younger generations with her socially reformed writings.She successfully bridges the idealistic and the popular styles of literature.

K. Varalakshmi was born in Jaggampeta, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh. Her schooling was completed in Jaggampeta. Once, financially settled, she finished M.A. from Andhra University.
Personal life
K. Varalakshmi was married to Kala Ram Mohan Rao in 1964. They have three children. Their son, K. Ravindra Phaniraj is a Tourism Project consultant in Hyderabad. Elder daughter, Dr. K. Geeta is an eminent Telugu poetry writer. Their younger daughter, Sri Lalitha is also a story writer.
