In 2010, Gary founded Gary Games. In August 2010 the first product of Gary Games, Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer, was introduced at Gen Con 2010. Ascension is a deck-building game designed by Justin Gary, Brian Kibler, John Fiorillo, and Rob Dougherty. Gary Games changed its name to Stone Blade Entertainment in 2012.

Gary had a Kickstarter campaign in early 2013 to fund a digital version of Ascension separate from the iOS version already available. This was marred by extensive delays, inability to come through on rewards, and a general failure to finish development in house. Eventually, the project was handed over to Playdek to make their existing iOS app available on other platforms. Much of the controversy still stems around the collector's edition which has seen its physical box change multiple times due to the inability of Gary to secure the promised original. The physical rewards are still undelivered years later marking this as one of the worst examples of undelivered Kickstarter projects in history. Now 4 years later many backers are requesting a full refund but Gary is refusing refunds of any kind in violation of Kickstarter TOS

Gary and the rest of Stone Blade team had a Kickstarter campaign in late 2012 to fund SolForge, a digital-only collectable card game. SolForge was released in 2013 and had a few expansions, but Gary announced the game would be shutdown by the end of January 2017. Currently, an effort is underway by Brian Weissman and Chris Wilson to save the game.
