Julius Brewster Cotton (born February 16 in Brooklyn, New York) was born Julius Brewster Jr., to Denise Grant (Brooklyn, New York) and Julius Brewster (Brooklyn, New York).

Biography
Julius Brewster began his professional dance career in Ohio with the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company after graduating from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, in 2000. He was a student at the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in Manhattan, a place he has often credited with keeping in the arts. While in Dayton, Ohio, Julius was a freelance journalist for the Dayton Weekly News as well as the Dayton Daily News as well as performing and traveling with the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company. In addition, he was appointed by the Mayor and City council in 2003 to serve on the City's Arts Council, where he remained for four years. An active member in his community, he also served on the Family Support and Selections Committee of the Dayton Chapter's Habitat For Humanity. He also ran for political office seeking a seat on the City Council for the City of Centerville.
In 2007 Brewster was awarded the Josie Award for Best Male Dancer in Dayton, Ohio.
In 2007 he moved to Mexico City, Mexico, to dance with the Tania Perez-Salas Dance Company. After artistic differences, however, he left the company and joined El Taller Coreografioc de la UNAM in 2008, under the direction of Gloria Contreras, also in Mexico City.
Brewster was the first African American to join the company in the its 40-year history. He had his choreographic debut with the company in June 2009 with his ballet "Tango Ingles" set to Jethro Tull's "Locomotive Breathe". Julius was part of the original cast of Wicked Mexico, produced by OCESA, and was a dancer with Mexican pop-star Yuri.
Brewster remains an active figure in the Mexican dance community, giving classes of Horton and Ballet. He has traveled throughout latin America, teaching the Horton technique to new generations of dancers and teachers. Brewster has been invited to teach at several high ranking dance institutions on Mexico, among them La Universidad de las Americas Puebla, El Centro de Danza Contemporanea and for CONARTE in Monterrey.
