Julia Ortiz is an American model, she was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and raised in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She is of German, English and Puerto Rican decent.

Career

At the age of 15, Ortiz was discovered at a local mall and at 16 moved to NYC to become a fashion model. She took 3rd place in a Fresh Faces model contest in which model Niki Taylor placed 1st. She subsequently signed with Next Model Management and went on to travel to over 40 countries being featured in Elle, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Seventeen, GQ, FHM, Amica, Grazia, L’Officiel, New Woman, and She magazines.

Ortiz has also been featured in many beauty and fashion campaigns during her career to include Loreal, Prescriptives, Aveeno, Elizabeth Arden, Garnier Fructis, Anne Taylor Loft, Liz Claiborne, Avon, Vanity Fair, Esprit, Macy’s Style&Co and most recently in 2014 for Garnier Skin Miracle.

Apart from her print work, Ortiz has appeared in numerous T.V. commercials including Bounty Chocolates, Loreal Studio Line, Diet Coke, Maybelline, Oil of Olay, Aveeno, Crest White Strips, Heineken, Macy’s, JC Penney, and California Tourism.

In 1997 Julia was featured in the Pirelli Calendar’s: Women of the World shot by Richard Avedon, an experience she deems as the highlight of her career. She has also been featured in Photographer Brian Bowen Smith’s coffee table book “Projects” of photographic portraits.

Personal life

Ortiz has been in a relationship with longtime boyfriend, author and filmmaker Donnie Eichar. In 2011 they celebrated the arrival of the son Dashiel Floyd Eichar. They currently live in Los Angeles, California.
