Jules Polonetsky (born August 18, 1965) is an American lawyer and internet privacy expert from Brooklyn, New York who currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Future of Privacy Forum.

Biography

He was born on born August 18, 1965. Polonetsky graduated from Yeshiva University and New York University School of Law.

He began his career as an associate for Stroock & Stroock & Lavan and later served from 1990 to 1992 as a district representative for United States Representative Steve Solarz, and from 1992 to 1993 as a legislative aide to United States Representative Charles Schumer.

He served in the New York State Assembly from 1994 to 1997, representing southern Brooklyn. From 1998 to 2000, he served as commissioner of the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs under mayor Rudolph Giuliani. In 2011 he was appointed to the Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee of the Department of Homeland Security. Polonetsky also previously served as Chief Privacy Officer for both AOL and DoubleClick.
