The House Judiciary Committee is a 20 member legislative body consisting of a chairman, a vice-chairman, a secretary, two ex officio, and 15 members. The Committee operates under a House mandate to evaluate legislation and any other measures relating to law, courts, judges, and constitutional amendments.

Scope and jurisdiction

The House Judiciary Committee is responsible for all legislative measures relating to state law, courts, and judges and for evaluating the constitutionality of House sponsored amendments. The committee has jurisdiction over all legislation that carries any possibility for civil penalties.
