History

Joy Primary School was established in 1986 with 177 students and was run by the Joy Education Society. Gradually the education offered grew from Primary to Middle and finally to Senior Secondary School Level. The Primary School in its embryonic stage began in Agrawal Colony and as the school climbed every successive level it shifted to Napier Town, Wright Town and finally stationed itself in Vijay Nagar. ‘JOY’ was affiliated to Board of Secondary Education M.P. from 1986–2003, but after shifting to Vijay Nagar in 2003 it switched over to the Central Board of Secondary Education.

Cultural

In 1998 12 students of the school made a patriotic song under the guidance of Akhilesh Maben, called Ranbheri. The audio-video song was written by Lt Shri Ram Kumar Bharatiya(a.k.a. Lt.Shri Ram Kuar Seth) in 1932 during the Satyagraha Movement,Savinay Avagya Movement against the Britishers, who levied a tax on the peasants. The song has been recorded in the Limca Book of Records.

The song was sung by 16 students of Joy. It was telecast on Indian entertainment channels and can be viewed on YouTube. The cultural group, composed of fifteen girls, participated in the 4th National Balrang organized by the Department of School Education Government of Madhya Pradesh and Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya Bhopal. Performers of 26 states including two students of International Schools performed in Bhopal on 21 December 2008. Joy won first prize for their folk display of “The Rai” dance. the group has been adopted by the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya Bhopal to project the culture of M.P. in other states and abroad. The group performed on the Founders Day of Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya on 21 March 2009.

Social engineering

Ranbheri is a patriotic song about the history of India, performed by 1600 amateur students of Joy Senior Secondary School, Jabalpur. It is a 'Limca Book of World Records' record holder. The man behind the concept, production and direction is Mr. Akilesh Maben, the director of the school.
