José Manuel Dias da Fonseca (born December 20, 1956) is a businessman and Group Chief Executive of MDS. He has been appointed by Belmiro de Azevedo,Chairman of Sonae, the largest group in Portugal, with presence in various market segments such as retail, shopping centres, telecommunications and wood-based products around the world.

Career
In 1994 he became Deputy Mayor of Matosinhos City hall, responsible for the financial, human resources, juridical, sports, tourism and culture areas.
In 1997 he became Director at the Portuguese Global Trade and Investment Agency.
In 2000, Fonseca was named President of MDS, a captive insurance broker wholly owned by the Sonae Group.
Casa da Musica
His interests include culture and music. Fonseca is Chairman of the Board at Casa da Música, a foundation which promotes musical events and the enhancement of culture in Porto.
