Josie Hartnett (1927–2005) was an Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Glen Rovers and with the Cork inter-county team in the 1940s and 1950s.

Club
Hartnett played his club hurling with Glen Rovers, one of the most famous clubs in the country. He won several county titles with the club between 1945 andf 1955.
Inter-county
Hartnett first came to prominence with the Cork senior hurlers in the late 1940s. He first tasted success in 1948 when he won a National Hurling League with Cork. It would be 1952 before Hartnett won his first Munster title. Unfortunately, he played no part in Cork’s later All-Ireland victory over Dublin. Hartnett won a second National League medal at the start of 1953, before later collecting a second Munster title. This was converted into a first All-Ireland medal following Cork’s defeat of Galway in one of the dirtiest All-Ireland finals ever. In 1954 Hartnett won a third consecutive Munster medal before helping Cork to a third successive All-Ireland victory. It was Hartnett’s second All-Ireland medal. Cork lost their provincial crown in 1955, however, the following year he won a fourth Munster title in five years. Hartnett’s side, however, were later defeated by Wexford in the All-Ireland final.
