Joseph Siravo (born February 12, 1957) is an American actor known for his role as Tony Soprano's father Johnny Soprano on the HBO series, The Sopranos.

Education and career

Siravo is a graduate of both Stanford University and New York University's Graduate Acting Program at the Tisch School of the Arts.

Siravo's screen debut was in the 1993 film, Carlito's Way. Cast in the role of antagonist Vincent 'Vinnie' Taglialucci, his character seeks revenge for the death of his father and brother at the hands of a corrupt lawyer (Sean Penn) while accusing Carlito Brigante, played by Al Pacino, of assisting in the murder.

He was cast in 1999 to play the role of "Johnny Boy" Soprano, father of Tony Soprano, on The Sopranos. His character was included in five episodes during the series' run.

In 2006 he had an uncredited role as District Attorney Haynes in the film 16 Blocks.

Siravo portrayed mobster John Gotti in the 2015 film The Wannabe as well as Gene Gotti in the 1998 made-for-TV film Witness to the Mob. Also on television, Siravo played the role of Niko in the NBC show The Blacklist in seasons 1 and 2 and in 2015 played the role of Nicholas Bianco the husband of Anna Bianco played by former The Sopranos actress Kathrine Narducci in "Love Stories" the 13th episode of the 5th season of the CBS police procedural drama Blue Bloods, Siravo also portrayed Fred Goldman, father of murder victim Ronald Goldman, in the 2016 FX miniseries, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

On stage, Siravo played more than 1,000 performances as Gyp DeCarlo in the first national tour of Jersey Boys.
