Joseph Médard Carrière (1902–1970), was a Franco-Ontarian French-language scholar.

One of his specialisms was folklore, and he taught for many years at the University of Virginia.

Carrière's papers are lodged in the archives of Université Laval.

Some of his more well-known French transcription work, which cites the storytelling of Joseph Groulx, of Tecumseh, has been recently edited in:
