José Antonio Llorente (born in Madrid, on December 1, 1960) is a Spanish journalist, communications consultant, and the founder and president of Llorente & Cuenca.

Education and early career

Llorente graduated in Information Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid in 1982. He later took clases in Public Affairs at Henley Business School and Indiana University. As a journalist he worked at the agency EFE, serving as editor in 1981 and in the Department of Communication for Confederación Española de Organizaciones Empresariales between 1980 and 1985. Between 1985 and 1995 he held various positions in multinational communications consultancy Burson Marsteller, eventually becoming the firm’s CEO.
Llorente & Cuenca

In 1995 he and Olga Cuenca founded a communications and public relations agency, called Llorente & Cuenca. José Antonio Llorente has his residence in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The company does 60% of its business in Latin America and 10% in Spain. Llorente is a member of the Association of Communication Directors of Spain (DIRCOM) Euroamérica Foundation, and Spain Agencies Association. He is also on the editorial board of Diario Crítico. Llorente has stated that he believes the future of company marketing will be in reputation management, creating a need for intangible and emotional characteristics in addition to technical profiency when it comes to marketing or public relations products. He has mentioned that social media will be a major component of this kind of reputation management.
Awards and recognition

In 2013 Llorente was awarded a SABRE Award for Individual Achievement, becoming the first Latin American professional to win the award That year he was also awarded International Business Stevie Awards for the best consultant in both Europe and Latin America. He was also chosen as one of the 500 most influential Spanish people of the year by El Mundo newspaper. In 2015 Llorente was named one of 15 people to watch by the Holmes Report.
