José Antonio Durán (c.1810-1880s) was an Argentine military officer and secretary of the government of Nazario Benavídez, He served as correspondent of Juan Manuel de Rosas in San Juan.

Biography

José Antonio was born in San Juan, possibly son of Pedro Antonio Durán, (lieutenant in the Regimiento de Infantería de Buenos Aires), and Josefa de la Calle. The Colonel José Antonio Durán had accompanied the General Benavides in the military campaigns of 1841, 1842 and 1843, against Unitarian troops, he participated in the Battle of Angaco.
