Jorge Diz (November 19, 1934 Navarro) is an Argentine athlete, specializing in athletics, swimming and wheelchair basketball. Diz won 11 Paralympic medals in the 1964 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, and 1968 Paralympic Games in Tel Aviv, in swimming, athletics and wheelchair basketball. Diz also won 14 world championships and six world runners-up.
Life
Jorge Diz contracted polio at the age of one year, which caused an irreversible sequel to his left leg. His son Facundo Diz is a professional football player.
In the 1964 Tokyo Paralympics, Jorge Diz he won 7 medals, 5 silver in swimming, athletics and basketball in wheelchairs, and 2 bronze medals in athletics (shot put and pentathlon). Argentina won a silver medal in the tournament B of wheelchair basketball. The Argentina team was composed of: Eduardo Albelo, Héctor Brandoni, Fernando Bustelli, Jorge Diz, Wilmer Gonzalez, Juan Grusovin, Roberto Iglesias, Federico Marin, Rodolfo Novoa, Juan Sznitowski and Dante Tosi.
In the 1968 Paralympics in Tel Aviv, Jorge Diz won 4 medals: 1 silver in athletics (hammer throw) and 3 bronze medals in athletics (shot put, pentathlon, and 4x40).
