Jordan Kamalu (born June 24, 1990) is an American songwriter, producer, and film composer. In 2016 Kamalu won a Student Emmy at the College Television Awards for his music in the film Papa <ksl> <[1]> . His music and lyrics, for the musical theater show Single Wide, won the 2015 Blanche and Irving Laurie Musical Theater Award from the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival.

Education

Kamalu’s songwriting made him a winner of Berklee College of Music’s BEST competition for entering students, where he attended school for one year. After a 2-year break from school to serve as a missionary in Chile for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kamalu finished his music degree at Brigham Young University. While at BYU he wrote music and lyrics for Single Wide, which won Best Collegiate Musical from the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. The show went on to win a feature spot in the 2015 New York Musical Theater Festival where it received rave reviews and was even touted by one critic as among the top 10 Broadway shows of 2015. His music in the short animated film Papa earned a Student Emmy and 2nd place in the Student Recording Competition in AES (Audio Engineering Society).

Personal life

Jordan was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Layne and Lorene Kamalu. In 2015 he married Danielle Nicole Calder.
