Playing career
Bendfeld holds the distinction of having been twice drafted in the National Hockey League (NHL), an attribute he has in common with thirty-six other NHL draftees; most notably Craig Anderson, of the Ottawa Senators and Jarret Stoll, of the Los Angeles Kings.
He was originally picked by the Phoenix Coyotes (152nd overall), in 2006. He was re-entered for selection two years later, and was drafted this time by the Edmonton Oilers (193rd overall), in 2008.
