David Jonathan Edwards (born 26 April 1976) is a Plaid Cymru politician in the United Kingdom. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency of Carmarthen East and Dinefwr in Wales since May 2010. Edwards held the seat for Plaid Cymru, replacing previous MP Adam Price who stood down.
In January 2012, he submitted an Early Day Motion for a Cornish Assembly, being supported by fellow PC MPs Hywel Williams and Elfyn Llywd and Paul Flynn of Labour.
Edwards courted controversy in 2014 with a Twitter remark criticising Wales rugby captain Sam Warburton for describing himself as British whilst representing the British and Irish Lions and again in the run up to the Scottish independence referendum 2014 with the claim unionists "loathe" their country

Jonathan Edwards was absent for the vote due to becoming a father and being on paternity leave. His views, however, unequivocally concur with that of his party and Plaid Cymru remain the only party in Wales which gives undivided support to the 47% of voters who opted to remain the EU
